ColourQ Challenge #90

I am SO excited this week for these colors!  They are so fun and of course, patriotic.  I had a blast making this card this week.  I was inspired and the ideas just were flowing!  In fact, I could have made at least 3 cards out of these colors.  So here are the colors for this week's challenge:

And here is my card:

My brother's birthday is the 4th of July and this will be his birthday card.  OK.  I am so excited to tell you some more about this card.  I glittered my own paper (the red star, the strip of red behind the star border and the stars on the firework rockets).  First I dry embossed the star (with the Cuttlebug) and then glittered it using Simple Stick.  I made the firework rockets out my arrow punch!  I wanted the main parts of the card to stand out, but I knew I didn't want to use pop dots or make a step card.  So I grabbed a piece of scrap cardstock and bent it allowing it to lay flat against the card, but raise the star up some.  See photo below:

I also made some for the firework rockets.  I LOVE how it turned out.  I gives great dimension.  Here is what it looks like laying down:

I cut some little strips of paper and adhered them with a glue dot to make the part that shoot out of the star points.  I also added some gift wrapping star wire in with them to add some shine.

I so hope you enjoy this card and as always, I adore reading your comments.  Please leave them below!

Happy 4th to you all!

  1. The card is fabulous! What a great way to celebrate your brother's birthday! BTW, I also like the little country quilted pillow or whatever it is, peeking out from behind your card! Thanks for playing with the CQC this week, too!
